Trace your foot

Stand on a sheet of paper with your full weight on the foot, heel against a wall. Trace the outline with a pen held straight up, not angled.
Measure heel to toe

Measure the longest distance from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe, in centimeters. Measure both feet, since most people have one slightly larger.
Match and size up

Match your longer foot's length to the chart above. For running specifically, we recommend sizing up half a size to leave room for foot swell on longer efforts.

Leave thumb's-width room

There should be roughly a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe. Running shoes are not meant to fit snug at the toe.
Try shoes on later in the day

Feet swell throughout the day and during exercise. Trying shoes on in the evening gives you the most accurate sense of race-day or long-run fit.
Break in gradually

New running shoes should feel supportive from the first wear, not painful. Use them for short runs first before taking them on long distances.
